In March 2020, I was three years into owning my full-service pet care company. We’d grown to nine employees and $200,000 annual revenue, and then — cue the COVID-19 global pandemic.
The pet care industry shifted in a massive way and I had to re-think everything.
Over the course of the next year, I revised my entire business. I discontinued all overnight care and niched to offer dog walking only. Between May 2020 and May 2021, I doubled the size of my business, doubled my profit margins, and tripled the size of my team, all while reducing our hours of service and building an on-demand daily dog walking model.
